"Finding Beauty isn't about looking Further but Looking Closer"- Joshua Barkman

My work is inspired by vintage scientific illustration and specimen collections.The name Linnaeus Stitch comes from Carl Linnaeus the seventeenth century naturalist who created the modern system for the scientific names of organisms. I explore in detail species that otherwise might be overlooked, because it is amazing how once you know something is there then suddenly you see it, and once you see it you become much more inclined to celebrate and protect it.

Each piece is hand embroidered with embroidery silks usually on a cotton fabric, and then mounted in an up-cycled or vintage frame that is intended to compliment the piece.
